It started in a lonely part of Arizona one summer evening, when Kermit Langley saw a huge meteorite coming down and heard a singing noise, like the whine of a projectile. It crashed.
The next day, Langley went hunting for it, and when he found (he crater, he knew at once that this had been no meteor; it was artificial, made of polished metal, and there was something moving inside — a humanoid creature with lemonish skin smeared now with bruises. One eye was closed, the other stared at Langley in a kind of desperate appeal. The alien reached out a hand...and fainted.
